Psychotherapy

Everyone experiences challenges to mental wellness from time to time. Stress/anxiety, mood issues, or grief can lead people to isolate themselves and spend more time with their thoughts which are often negative. It can become a vicious cycle leading to worsening symptoms.

Sometimes, our sense of balance and resilience is overwhelmed. It may be time to seek help! Our clinicians can assist you in dealing with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, self- esteem issues, and addictions. We also provide couples and grief therapy, as well as assistance clients in working through whatever crisis they might be experiencing.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a collaborative approach between a therapist and client, to identify problems, set goals and develop a treatment plan to reach these goals. We help you to organize your experiences and thoughts, and to recognize their influence on your attitudes and behaviours.

Our therapists at Evolve are caring, non-judgemental, and empathetic. Our focus is to work with you, at your pace, so you can regain and enjoy mental health.

There are many forms or modalities of psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is mainly a “talk based” therapy, but also can involve biofeedback.  Therapists are focused on improving a client’s mental health.  We work with individuals, couples, families and groups to bring about positive changes in relationships, feelings, behaviours and thoughts.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is used to treat a wide range of issues, either alone or in combination with other treatments. Clients work with a therapist in a structured way, to address cognitive distortions or mistakes and behavioural symptoms. The concept is that our behaviours, thoughts and emotions are inter-related. By addressing the cognitive distortions and changing behaviours, one’s emotions can be positively affected.

Anger Solutions Therapy

Anger is a normal emotion, however because it can be a very strong emotion, how we express it is critical. There are basically three ways of expressing anger: aggressively, passively or assertively. Through the Anger Solutions program, clients will learn to express their anger in a more productive way, thereby improving relationships, and the client’s overall mental health.
